Avian Influenza

 

 

1. Poland reported 7 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds and 15 in poultry

On April 20 and 22, Poland reported 7 outbreaks in wild birds and 15 in poultry of H5N1 HPAI in Pomeranian Voivodeship and 2 other locations, resulting in 477 wild birds and backyard poultry infected, 51 deaths, and among commercial poultry, 562,000 infected, 2,900 deaths, and 27,000 culled.

 

2. Germany reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in poultry

On April 20, Germany reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in poultry in Bavaria, resulting in 51 poultry infected and died, and 137 culled.

 

3. Finland reported 3 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On April 20 and 24, Finland reported 3 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Uusimaa and one other location, resulting in 3 wild birds infected and died.

 

4. Austria reported 7 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On April 20 and 23, Austria reported 7 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Lower Austria and one other location, resulting in 8 wild birds infected and died.

 

5. Norway reported 3 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On April 22 and 23, Norway reported 3 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Vestfold County and one other location, resulting in 3 wild birds infected and died.

 

6. Netherlands reported 2 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On April 23, the Netherlands reported 2 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in South Holland and one other location, resulting in 2 wild birds infected and died.

 

7. Ukraine reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On April 23, Ukraine reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Kyiv Oblast, resulting in 8 wild birds and backyard poultry infected and died.

 

8. Estonia reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On April 24, Estonia reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Tartu County, resulting in 5 wild birds and backyard poultry infected and died.

 

9. United Kingdom reported 15 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds and 1 in poultry

On April 24, the United Kingdom reported 15 outbreaks in wild birds and 1 in poultry of H5N1 HPAI in England and one other location, resulting in 17 wild birds infected and died, and 15 poultry infected.

 

10. Greece reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On April 24, Greece reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Kastoria Province, resulting in 1 wild bird infected and died.

 

11. United States reported 5 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds and 29 in poultry

On April 21, the United States reported 5 outbreaks in wild birds and 29 in poultry of H5N1 HPAI in Ohio and 7 other locations, resulting in 361 wild birds and backyard poultry infected and died, 214 culled, and among commercial poultry, 385 infected and died, and 1.253 million culled.

 

12. United States reported 9 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in dairy cattle

On April 24, the United States reported 9 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in dairy cattle in Idaho, resulting in multiple dairy cattle infected.

 

13. Argentina reported 2 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On April 20, Argentina reported 2 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Río Negro Province and Buenos Aires Province, resulting in 381 wild birds and backyard poultry infected and died, and 747 culled.

 

14. Chile reported 3 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On April 24, Chile reported 3 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Ñuble Region and 2 other locations, resulting in 299 backyard poultry infected, 166 deaths, and 576 culled.

 

15. India reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in poultry

On April 20, India reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in poultry in Bihar State, resulting in 210 poultry infected and culled.

 

16. Japan reported 2 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in poultry

On April 23, Japan reported 2 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in poultry in Miyagi Prefecture and one other location, resulting in 267 poultry infected and died, and 465,000 culled.

On April 20 and 24, Poland reported 2 outbreaks of Newcastle disease in Lubusz Voivodeship, resulting in 3,766 poultry infected, 3,400 deaths, and 18,000 culled.

 

2. Moldova reported 2 rabies outbreaks

On April 23, Moldova reported 2 outbreaks of rabies in Hîncești District and one other location, resulting in 1 domestic dog and 1 wild red fox infected and died.

 

3. France reported 1 West Nile fever outbreak

On April 20, France reported 1 outbreak of West Nile fever in Haute-Corse, resulting in 1 horse infected and died.

 

4. Chile reported 2 equine infectious anemia outbreaks

On April 20 and 23, Chile reported 2 outbreaks of equine infectious anemia in Coquimbo Region and one other location, resulting in 2 horses infected and culled.

 

5. United Kingdom reported 4 serotype 3 bluetongue outbreaks

On April 24, the United Kingdom reported 4 outbreaks of serotype 3 bluetongue in England, resulting in 6 cattle infected.

 

6. Lithuania reported 1 serotype 3 bluetongue outbreak

On April 21, Lithuania reported 1 outbreak of serotype 3 bluetongue in Klaipėda County, resulting in 1 cattle infected.

 

7. Chad reported 1 Trypanosoma evansi infection outbreak

On April 23, Chad reported 1 outbreak of Trypanosoma evansi infection in Guéra Region, resulting in 1 camel infected.

 

8. Uruguay reported 1 Trypanosoma evansi infection outbreak

On April 23, Uruguay reported 1 outbreak of Trypanosoma evansi infection in Tacuarembó Department, resulting in 3 horses infected and died.

 

9. Chad reported 1 Trypanosoma brucei infection outbreak

On April 23, Chad reported 1 outbreak of Trypanosoma brucei infection in Hadjer-Lamis Region, resulting in 14 cattle infected and 1 death.

On April 21, Mexico reported 2 outbreaks of New World screwworm in Nuevo León State, resulting in 1 cattle and 1 domestic dog infected.

On April 24, South Africa reported 3 outbreaks of SAT1 foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Mpumalanga Province, resulting in multiple cattle infected.

 

14. Botswana reported 2 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On April 20 and 23, Botswana reported 2 outbreaks of SAT1 FMD in the South-East District, resulting in 12 cattle infected.

 

15. Greece reported 21 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On April 21, Greece reported 21 outbreaks of SAT1 FMD on the island of Lesbos, resulting in 1,166 sheep and goats infected.

 

16. Cyprus reported 17 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On April 22, Cyprus reported 17 outbreaks of SAT1 FMD in Larnaca District and Nicosia Municipality, resulting in 406 cattle, sheep and goats infected, and 7,655 culled.

 

17. Israel reported 40 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On April 22, Israel reported 40 outbreaks of SAT1 FMD in Haifa and 4 other locations, resulting in 240 cattle and 1 wild gazelle infected, and 117 sheep died.

1. Lithuania reported 27 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On April 20, Lithuania reported 27 outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boar in Alytus County and 2 other locations, resulting in 85 wild boar infected and died.

 

2. Italy reported 31 ASF outbreaks in wild boar and 1 in domestic pigs

On April 20, Italy reported 31 outbreaks in wild boar and 1 in domestic pigs of ASF in Emilia-Romagna and 3 other regions, resulting in 31 wild boar infected and died, and 7 domestic pigs infected and died, with 64 culled.

 

3. Hungary reported 17 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On April 20 and 23, Hungary reported 17 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Fejér County and 3 other locations, resulting in 18 wild boar infected and died.

 

4. Moldova reported 2 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On April 21 and 23, Moldova reported 2 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Leova District, resulting in 2 wild boar infected and died.

On April 23, Latvia reported 11 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Tukums Municipality and 3 other locations, resulting in 11 wild boar infected and died.

On April 24, Poland reported 70 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and 7 other locations, resulting in 129 wild boar infected and died.
