Avian Influenza
1. United States Reports 17 Cases in Wild Birds and 24 Cases in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, the United States reported 17 cases in wild birds and 24 cases in poultry across 8 states including Wisconsin. A total of 471 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died, 227 were culled, and 314,000 poultry were culled.
2. Canada Reports 3 Cases in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, Canada reported 3 cases in poultry across 3 provinces including British Columbia. A total of 2,131 poultry were infected and died, and 282,000 were culled.
3. Germany Reports 402 Cases in Wild Birds and 3 Cases in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, Germany reported 402 cases in wild birds and 3 cases in poultry across 12 states including Berlin. A total of 577 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 433 deaths and 159 culled, and 81 poultry were infected and died, with 99,000 culled.
4. United Kingdom Reports 1 Case in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, the United Kingdom reported 1 case in poultry in Scotland. A total of 45,000 poultry were infected, with 6,500 deaths.
5. Hungary Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, Hungary reported 1 case in wild birds in Fejér County. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.
6. Poland Reports 4 Cases in Wild Birds and 1 Case in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22 and 23, Poland reported 4 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry across 4 voivodeships including Masovian Voivodeship. A total of 7 wild birds were infected and died, and 172,000 poultry were infected, with 5,237 deaths.
7. Sweden Reports 17 Cases in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22 and 23, Sweden reported 17 cases in wild birds across 7 municipalities including Karlshamn Municipality. A total of 17 wild birds were infected and died.
8. Finland Reports 2 Cases in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, Finland reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 provinces including Western Finland Province. A total of 2 wild birds were infected and died.
9. Netherlands Reports 1 Case in Poultry and 9 Cases in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22 and 23, the Netherlands reported 1 case in poultry and 9 cases in wild birds across 4 provinces including Limburg. A total of 20 poultry were infected, with 10 deaths and 20,000 culled, and 14 wild birds were infected and died.
10. Denmark Reports 2 Cases in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22 and 23, Denmark reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 municipalities including Frederikshavn Municipality. A total of 23 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died.
11. Czechia Reports 2 Cases in Wild Birds and 1 Case in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, Czechia reported 2 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry across 3 regions including Hradec Králové Region. A total of 11 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 4 deaths and 56 culled, and 300 poultry were infected and died.
12. Portugal Reports 2 Cases in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 22, Portugal reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 districts including Aveiro District. A total of 2 wild birds were infected and died.
13. Japan Reports 2 Cases in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 23 and 24, Japan reported 2 cases in poultry across 2 prefectures including Hyogo Prefecture. A total of 57 poultry were infected and died, and 242,000 were culled.
14. Nigeria Reports 2 Cases in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 23, Nigeria reported 2 cases in poultry across 2 states including Plateau State. A total of 3,174 poultry were infected, with 734 deaths and 2,440 culled.
15. Italy Reports 4 Cases in Wild Birds and 5 Cases in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 23, Italy reported 4 cases in wild birds and 5 cases in poultry across 4 regions including Tuscany. A total of 6 wild birds were infected and died, and 70,000 poultry were infected, with 220 deaths and 26,000 culled.
16. Brazil Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 24, Brazil reported 1 case in wild birds in Mato Grosso State. A total of 21 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 16 deaths and 154 culled.
17. Belgium Reports 1 Case in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 24, Belgium reported 1 case in poultry in Flanders. A total of 214 poultry were infected and died, and 44,000 were culled.
18. Norway Reports 4 Cases in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza
On December 24, Norway reported 4 cases in wild birds across 4 counties including Trøndelag. A total of 4 wild birds were infected and died.

1. Poland Reports 2 Cases of Newcastle Disease
On December 24, Poland reported 2 cases of Newcastle disease across 2 voivodeships including Greater Poland Voivodeship. A total of 18,000 poultry were infected, with 3,096 deaths and 15,000 culled.
