Avian Influenza

 

1. Portugal reports 1 case in wild birds and 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 15, Portugal reported 1 case in wild birds and 1 case in poultry across 2 districts including Faro District. A total of 1 wild bird and 1,180 poultry were infected and died.

 

2. Germany reports 7 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 15, 16, and 19, Germany reported 7 cases in poultry across 6 states including Saxony. A total of 1,631 poultry were infected, with 1,197 deaths and 162,000 culled.

 

3. Namibia reports 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 15, Namibia reported 1 case in wild birds in the Karas Region. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.

 

4. Luxembourg reports 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 15, Luxembourg reported 1 case in wild birds in Grevenmacher District. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.

 

5. Norway reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 15 and 16, Norway reported 2 cases in wild birds in Oslo Municipality. A total of 3 wild birds were infected and died.

 

6. Lithuania reports 5 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 15 and 19, Lithuania reported 5 cases in wild birds across 3 counties including Panevėžys County. A total of 16 wild birds were infected and died.

 

7. Sweden reports 6 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 16 and 19, Sweden reported 6 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry across 5 municipalities including Ängelholm Municipality. A total of 8 wild birds were infected and died, and 128 poultry were infected and died, with 40,000 culled.

 

8. Poland reports 8 cases in wild birds and 4 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 16, 17, and 19, Poland reported 8 cases in wild birds and 4 cases in poultry across 4 voivodeships including Masovian Voivodeship. A total of 18 wild birds were infected and died, and 157,000 poultry were infected, with 4,797 deaths.

 

9. South Korea reports 5 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 16, South Korea reported 5 cases in poultry across 2 locations including Gyeonggi Province. A total of 797 poultry were infected, with 416 deaths and 580,000 culled.

 

10. France reports 7 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 16 and 18, France reported 7 cases in poultry across 4 departments including Vendée, Pays de la Loire. A total of 541 poultry were infected and died, with 148 culled.

 

11. Belgium reports 38 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 16, Belgium reported 38 cases in wild birds across 3 regions including Flanders. A total of 39 wild birds were infected and died.

 

12. Czechia reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 16, Czechia reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 regions including Karlovy Vary Region. A total of 61 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 16 deaths and 67 culled.

 

13. United Kingdom reports 132 cases in wild birds and 2 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 16 and 19, the United Kingdom reported 132 cases in wild birds and 2 cases in poultry across 4 regions including England. A total of 182 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 178 deaths, and 9,007 poultry were infected, with 63 deaths.

 

14. Denmark reports 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 18, Denmark reported 1 case in poultry in Mariagerfjord Municipality. A total of 7 poultry were infected and died, with 19 culled.

 

15. Hungary reports 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 18, Hungary reported 1 case in wild birds in Hajdú-Bihar County. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.

 

16. Italy reports 7 cases in wild birds and 4 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Italy reported 7 cases in wild birds and 4 cases in poultry across 3 regions including Lombardy. A total of 17 wild birds were infected and died, and 261,000 poultry were infected, with 183 deaths and 279,000 culled.

 

17. Colombia reports 3 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Colombia reported 3 cases in wild birds in Sucre Department. A total of 186 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 170 deaths and 122 culled.

 

18. Latvia reports 5 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Latvia reported 5 cases in wild birds across 2 municipalities including Semigallia Municipality. A total of 39 wild birds were infected and died.

 

19. Spain reports 7 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Spain reported 7 cases in wild birds across 2 autonomous communities including Madrid. A total of 67 wild birds were infected and died.

 

20. Netherlands reports 11 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, the Netherlands reported 11 cases in wild birds across 4 provinces including South Holland. A total of 15 wild birds were infected and died.

 

21. Estonia reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Estonia reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 counties including Tartu County. A total of 33 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 32 deaths and 10 culled.

 

22. Slovenia reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Slovenia reported 2 cases in wild birds in the Podravska Region. A total of 5 wild birds were infected and died.

 

23. Ireland reports 4 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Ireland reported 4 cases in wild birds across 3 counties including County Roscommon. A total of 7 wild birds were infected and died.

 

24. Austria reports 3 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 19, Austria reported 3 cases in wild birds in Vorarlberg. A total of 3 wild birds were infected and died.

 

Other Animal Diseases

 

1. Thailand reports 23 cases of rabies

    On December 15, Thailand reported 23 cases of rabies across 6 provinces including Yasothon Province. A total of 23 domestic dogs were infected and died.

 

2. Kazakhstan reports 1 case of rabies

    On December 17, Kazakhstan reported 1 case of rabies in Kostanay Region. A total of 1 domestic dog was infected and died.

 

3. Peru reports 2 cases of Newcastle disease

    On December 15, Peru reported 2 cases of Newcastle disease across 2 provinces including Lima Province. A total of 31 poultry were infected.

 

4. Poland reports 6 cases of Newcastle disease

    On December 15 and 18, Poland reported 6 cases of Newcastle disease across 2 voivodeships including Greater Poland Voivodeship. A total of 259,000 poultry were infected, with 7,182 deaths and 86,000 culled.

 

5. Slovakia reports 1 case of Newcastle disease

    On December 17, Slovakia reported 1 case of Newcastle disease in Prešov Region. A total of 26 poultry were infected, with 22 deaths and 84 culled.
