Avian Influenza
1. Canada reports 16 cases in poultry and 3 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 28, Canada reported 16 cases in poultry and 3 cases in wild birds across 4 regions including British Columbia and Alberta. A total of 30,000 poultry were infected and died, 563,000 were culled, and 113 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 111 deaths and 36 culled.
2. Italy reports 19 cases in wild birds and 6 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 28, Italy reported 19 cases in wild birds and 6 cases in poultry across 4 regions including Friuli-Venezia Giulia. A total of 51 wild birds were infected and died, and 237,000 poultry were infected, with 7,050 deaths and 64,000 culled.
3. Norway reports 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza
On November 24, Norway reported 1 case in wild birds in Agder county. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.
4. Germany reports 170 cases in wild birds and 9 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 26, Germany reported 170 cases in wild birds and 9 cases in poultry across 3 states including Schleswig-Holstein. A total of 198 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 186 deaths and 52 culled, and 49,000 poultry were infected, with 185 deaths and 28,000 culled.
5. Austria reports 8 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 26, Austria reported 8 cases in wild birds across 3 states including Carinthia. A total of 16 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died.
6. Poland reports 2 cases in poultry and 5 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, 25, and 28, Poland reported 2 cases in poultry and 5 cases in wild birds across 4 voivodeships including Opole. A total of 29,000 poultry were infected, with 2,997 deaths, and 105 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 50 deaths.
7. Ireland reports 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, Ireland reported 1 case in poultry in County Laois. A total of 280 poultry were infected and died.
8. Portugal reports 1 case in wild birds and 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, Portugal reported 1 case in wild birds and 1 case in poultry across 2 districts including Santarém. A total of 21 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 6 deaths and 64 culled, and 4,013 poultry were infected, with 231 deaths and 17,000 culled.
9. Slovakia reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, Slovakia reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 regions including the Bratislava Region. A total of 2 wild birds were infected and died.
10. United Kingdom reports 69 cases in wild birds and 13 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, 26, and 28, the UK reported 69 cases in wild birds and 13 cases in poultry across 3 regions including England. A total of 203 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 177 deaths and 36 culled, and 19,000 poultry were infected, with 2,200 deaths and 120,000 culled.
11. Belgium reports 6 cases in poultry and 30 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 25, Belgium reported 6 cases in poultry and 30 cases in wild birds across 2 regions including Flanders. A total of 215,000 poultry were infected, with 536 deaths and 215,000 culled, and 34 wild birds were infected and died.
12. Denmark reports 1 case in poultry and 3 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 28, Denmark reported 1 case in poultry and 3 cases in wild birds across 3 municipalities including Viborg. A total of 1,375 poultry were infected and died, 8,176 were culled, and 4 wild birds were infected and died.
13. Sweden reports 4 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 27, Sweden reported 4 cases in wild birds across 3 municipalities including Falkenberg. A total of 4 wild birds were infected and died.
14. Slovenia reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 25, Slovenia reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 regions including Central Slovenia. A total of 2 wild birds were infected and died.
15. Czechia reports 5 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, 25, and 28, Czechia reported 5 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry across 5 regions including Olomouc. A total of 40 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died, 115 were culled, and 17 poultry were infected and died, with 3,776 culled.
16. Finland reports 9 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24 and 25, Finland reported 9 cases in wild birds across 3 regions including Ostrobothnia. A total of 13 wild birds were infected and died.
17. Hungary reports 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, Hungary reported 1 case in wild birds in Nógrád county. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.
18. Latvia reports 6 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 24, Latvia reported 6 cases in wild birds across 2 municipalities including Viļķene. A total of 6 wild birds were infected and died.
19. Netherlands reports 49 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 25 and 26, the Netherlands reported 49 cases in wild birds and 1 case in poultry across 5 provinces including Utrecht. A total of 87 wild birds were infected and died, and 20 poultry were infected, with 16 deaths and 71 culled.
20. France reports 45 cases in poultry and 95 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 26, 27, and 28, France reported 45 cases in poultry and 95 cases in wild birds across 8 departments including Deux-Sèvres, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. A total of 1,238 poultry were infected and died, 89,000 were culled, and 155 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died.
21. Switzerland reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 27, Switzerland reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 cantons including Lucerne. A total of 6 wild birds were infected and died.
22. Lithuania reports 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 28, Lithuania reported 1 case in wild birds in Vilnius County. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.
23. Bulgaria reports 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 28, Bulgaria reported 1 case in poultry in Plovdiv Province. A total of 20 poultry were infected.
24. Spain reports 8 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
On November 28, Spain reported 8 cases in wild birds across 4 autonomous communities including Galicia. A total of 20 wild birds were infected and died.
Other Animal Diseases
1. Poland reports 4 cases of Newcastle disease
On November 24 and 25, Poland reported 4 cases of Newcastle disease across 2 voivodeships including Greater Poland. A total of 204,000 poultry were infected, with 2,306 deaths and 67,000 culled.
2. Armenia reports 1 case of rabies
On November 24, Armenia reported 1 case of rabies in Tavush Province. A total of 1 domestic dog was infected and died.
