Professor Huang Shujian from Foshan University delivered a keynote report analyzing the global and domestic status of waterfowl avian influenza. He pointed out that avian influenza H5 subtype(primarily H5N1) is the primary threat to waterfowl farming, with ducklings under 30 days old and geese over 40 days old being particularly vulnerable. The virus is dominated by current prevalent variants, which not only cause high mortality and production losses but also pose public health risks. He stressed that prevention must follow the principle of "Biosecurity + Immunization + Culling" and provided recommendations for scientific immunization schedules.
